righteousness

If you’ve asked God for forgiveness (as stated in the previous article) Congratulations! You have made a step forward into restoring your relationship with God.

The next step is to allow God to be righteous for you. In order for Him to do so, you must let Him take your sins upon Himself.

How can you do that?

By believing in The One who did just that, Jesus Christ!

Jesus bored your sins on His own body to spare you from the eternal consequences of sin; to give you everlasting life. This is the ultimate sacrifice out of selfless, unconditional love for you; to give His own life at ransom so many including you can be saved.

John 3:16 tells us that “God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life”.

God’s plan for humanity wasn’t for anyone to die. Sin actually brought death to this world and to those who reject Jesus, sin brings eternal death or eternal separation from God.

The temporary consequences of sin are many. Perhaps, you are dealing with some of its physical and social consequences: broken family, divorce, anxiety, fear, suicidal thoughts, shame, guilt, illness, addiction. However, the eternal consequences of sin are far worse. Hell is reserved for those who reject Jesus, the Son of God, who died on the cross for you. Therefore, rejecting Jesus is already choosing death. (see the real conditions of hell).

Romans 3:22 tells us that “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.”

Jesus Himself said on John 14:6

“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one goes to the Father except through Me.”

In order to get closer to God, you must accept first what God has already done for you!

Before even attemping to resolve some of the consequences of sin in your life, how about addressing the root of the problem first? …which is rebelling against God. First, you must accept His Son and His sacrifice to allow Him to come into your life and help you.

God is not going to force you into choosing Him. But I suggest that you take this invitation seriously, for:

  1. Rejecting Jesus is choosing eternal condemnation in hell. See conditions of hell.
  2. Life is so futile. You can only decide to accept Jesus while you still have breath. If you die not having accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will be eternally separated from God.
  3. You need the freedom from sin and its consequences that A New Life in Christ offers.
  4. But most importantly, you DO need Jesus. Only Jesus can fill the void and satisfy that longing in your heart.

How can you accept Jesus as your Personal Lord and Savior?

Romans 10:9 tells us exactly what to do:

  1. You must confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.
  2. You must believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead.

Here’s a simple prayer to help you invite Jesus into your life. Say it out loud so that heaven and hell can hear you!
(This prayer won’t do anything if you don’t believe it, for you must do it in Faith!)

Father God, I repent of all of my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for my sins, for there’s nothing I can do to have a right-standing with you by my own efforts or merits. I believe You raised your Son Jesus from the dead to give me eternal life. Jesus come into my life, I will follow you and I will make you my Lord and Savior. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.

If you made this simple prayer and believed it in your heart, congratulations YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED!

The bible tells us that when someone is saved, all of the angels in heaven rejoice. Your name has now been written in the Lamb’s book of Life. Those whose names are written in this book will never be cast out and thrown into hell.
